Firefox based web browsers



Mozilla Firefox (known simply as Firefox) is a free and open-source  web browser developed for Windows, OS X, and Linux, with a mobile version for Android, by the Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which implements current and anticipated web standards.

Waterfox is an open-source web browser based on Mozilla Firefox, for 64-bit Windowssystems. As there is no official 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows, Waterfox may be used as an alternative.According to the developers, Waterfox is geared towards speed. It is compiled using the Intel C++ Compiler, and uses Intel's Math Kernel Library, Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 and Advanced Vector Extensions. It is compatible with Firefox add-ons and 64-bit NPAPI browser plug-ins.Although Firefox outperformed Waterfox in Peacekeeper browser benchmark tests ran by TechRepublic in 2012,Waterfox showed a mild improvement over Firefox in tests run by Softpedia in 2014.

Wyzo was a web browser based on Mozilla Firefox by Radical Software Ltd.The authors claim it is intended to download and manage all types of media, and they are naming it a Media Browser[peacock term] instead of a web browser. It is currently in Beta development stage and supports Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X but not Linux.

SeaMonkey is a free and open-source Internet suite. It is the continuation of the former Mozilla Application Suite, based on the same source code.
The development of SeaMonkey is community-driven, in contrast to the Mozilla Application Suite, which until its last released version (1.7.13) was governed by the Mozilla Foundation. The new project-leading group is the SeaMonkey Council. The SeaMonkey Council, which is the team responsible for project and release management, currently consists of Philip Chee, Karsten Düsterloh, Jens Hatlak, Robert Kaiser, Ian Neal, Neil Rashbrook, Andrew Schultz and Justin Wood.


Comodo IceDragon is a Firefox-based open source web browser from the Comodo Group. It is intended to be faster and more secure than Firefox.

 

Pale Moon is a web browser based on Mozilla Firefox.It is available for Windows platforms and distributed by M.C. Straver. Pale Moon builds on Firefox, optimizing for efficiency of code and aimed at current and modern microprocessors. Pale Moon is available free of charge as open source code archive and freeware binary releases.Because it is based on Firefox this makes most of the available Firefox extensions and plugins compatible with Pale Moon.
